Disclaimer: everything contained in this blog is MY OPINION. Every attempt is made to present the truth through actual facts; there will be no deliberate presentation of gossip, rumor, or innuendo which cannot be proven.
You will notice that comments aren't allowed. The reason for this is: 1) If I cared what people think, I wouldn't be writing for publication; and 2) Many people use the cyberworld to abuse and insult, mistakenly imagining that the internet provides them the same protection as anonymity, and I'm neither going to insult, explain, nor defend in answer to comments, so why have them?
Election time is rolling around, and the majority of opinion seems to be that "there's no one to vote for."
I have to agree with that; our slate of candidates this time is awful. As I've stated in a Letter to the Editor, I shall be casting negative votes-in other words, voting to keep someone out of office rather than to put someone in.
Every product has a 'sell by' date. In the case of milk, it goes 'blinky' immediately upon reaching that date, and starts to smell awfully bad as time goes on. Someone said like fish and relatives, you don't want to keep them about the house too long because they both start to stink. It works pretty much the same way with politicians. Some of these were already 'blinky' when we elected them and need to be thrown out with the other trash.
In the case of at least two of the incumbents, they're long past their 'sell by' date.
Who am I going to vote for?
No one who flaunts or overrides the law. No one who is a puppet of someone else, be it husband, wife, religious guru, friend, or any city official. No one with a grudge against the city or any of its departments. No one with a hidden agenda.
No one who is prepared to use their official position to pursue a vendetta. No one who would allow politics to endanger fellow employees or the town's citizens. No one whose behavior is so rude and improper that it brings shame to the citizens and disgrace upon Electra. No one who loses sight of the city's welfare for any reason.
Nor will I vote for someone because of a religious preference, because they're male-or female, because of color or ethnic origins, or because of influence they may exert professionally, personally, or politically.
Actually, I'd vote for anyone who would swear to try to rid the city of its administrator
